- Roy Hodgson has confirmed Ismaïla Sarr is unavailable for Watford in a real blow for the home side. Ken Sema could deputise.
- Peter Etebo is closing in on a return to fitness, but Nicolas Nkoulou is absent.
- Eddie Nketiah and Nicolas Pepe both came off the bench to play a key role in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Wolves last week and the duo are pushing to start here.
- Takehiro Tomiyasu is still a doubt, so Cedric Soares is expected to continue at right-back, but Emile Smith Rowe is back in contention after recovering from illness

- Both Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus have been battling injuries of late but both started Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Peterborough in midweek to bolster their offensive options.
- Raheem Sterling has only scored in one of his last seven in the Premier League and has an awful record against Manchester United with no goals in 23 career encounters. He could drop to the bench here.
- Ruben Dias has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a hamstring injury in a big blow for the home side. John Stones and Aymeric Laporte will start at the back as a result. Nathan Ake is also unavailable.
- Cristiano Ronaldo was not pictured with the Manchester United squad on Saturday night leading to suggestions he won’t play at the Etihad.
- Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani were also among the players missing for United on the eve of the derby.
- Harry Maguire will return to the starting XI after being rested in last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Watford.
- Bruno Fernandes may be asked to play a new, false nine role for United with Ronaldo and Cavani both potentially missing.
- Moving Fernandes into the front three would enable Ralf Rangnick to start one of Fred or Nemanja Matic in midfield for greater defensive balance.
- Diogo Dalot hasn’t started any of United’s last three and faces renewed competition from Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back.
- Anthony Elanga deserves to start over Marcus Rashford on form but it wouldn’t surprise if Rangnick went with the latter on Sunday.

- David Martindale named an unchanged Livingston team after their superb 4-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park, before getting the better of the Dee’s city rivals as they beat Dundee United in West Lothian in their midweek match.
- Livi’s only real absence is Daniel Barden. The goalkeeper, on loan from Norwich City, was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in October and hasn’t featured for the Lions since.
- Bruce Anderson is the man of the moment. His brace against Dundee means it’s three in two matches for Livi’s number nine. He provided for Scott Pittman’s opener on Wednesday as the Lions came from behind to beat United.
- Ange Postecoglou made just one change despite Celtic being unable to break down a stubborn Hibs they drew 0-0 at Easter Road, before their 2-0 victory over St Mirren at Parkhead on Wednesday night.
- Cameron Carter-Vickers was part of the defence that’s now kept consecutive clean sheets. The American center-back smashed Celtic ahead following his partner Carl Starfelt’s header from a Jota free-kick.
- Matt O’Riley joined club captain Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate in the middle of the park, at Tom Rogic’s expense. There was also a spot amongst the substitutes for highly-rated 19-year-old winger Karamoko Dembele.
