- Dani Carvajal started his first match since February in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Real Betis and is set to feature at right-back.
- There are no doubts over Toni Kroos, Zinedine Zidane has confirmed, but Ferland Mendy misses the first leg with Nacho and Marcelo competing to deputise.
- Sergio Ramos is hopeful of a return to action in midweek, however it may be that he isn’t available until the second leg.
- Lucas Vazquez and Federico Valverde miss the welcome of Chelsea due to injury and COVID-19, respectively.
- Eden Hazard came off the bench on Saturday and will hope to face his former employers here.
- Mateo Kovacic is Chelsea’s only injury concern for the trip to Madrid, with the Croat suffering with a thigh issue.
- Kai Havertz made lead the charge with Timo Werner dropping deeper and Christian Pulisic making way for the young German from the side that started against West Ham.
- Reece James or Callum Hudson-Odoi are expected to feature at right wing-back for the Blues.
- Centre-back Pontus Jansson will miss the visit of Rotherham through suspension so Mads Bech Sorensen will return to the back three in midweek.
- One other change is expected from the home side with Bryan Mbeumo set to replace Sergi Canos on the left.
- Goalkeeper Viktor Johansson will be absent on Tuesday night in line with concussion protocols so Jamal Blackman will deputise here.
- Paul Warne could make a couple of changes in midfield with Joe Mattock returning on the left and Daniel Barlaser replacing Shaun MacDonald.
