  • Jesse Marsch was relieved of his duties as RB Leipzig boss on Sunday following their loss to Union Berlin, with Achim Beierlorzer taking over the reins in the interim.
  • Beierlorzer has a number of absentee concerns to contend with for the welcome of Manchester City, with no fewer than eight players absent here.
  • Hugo Novoa and Willi Orban were self-isolating for the defeat in the German capital, while the likes of Dani Olmo, Marcel Halstenberg and Amadou Haidara are ruled out.
  • Tyler Adams returns from a ban, though, which is a boost.
  • Ferran Torres is Pep Guardiola’s only confirmed injury absentee for the trip to RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening.
  • With top spot guaranteed, Guardiola is set to ring the changes for the trip to Germany.
  • Fernandinho, Nathan Ake, Zack Steffen, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Cole Palmer may all feature from the outset in Germany.

  • Pietro Pellegri lasted 16 minutes at the weekend before needing to come off injured.
  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasn’t risked at the weekend but will return to the starting XI here. He has one goal in six career appearances against Liverpool and has never been on the winning side.
  • Alessio Romagnoli will continue in defence as Simon Kjaer has been ruled out for the season with a serious knee problem.
  • Junior Messias is pushing for a start after scoring the winner away to Atletico Madrid last time out in the Champions League. He has scored a brace against Genoa since then too.
  • Franck Kessie has been linked with a summer move to Liverpool and is expected to line up in midfield alongside one of Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer or Tiemoue Bakayoko.
  • Rafael Leao, Rade Krunic, Alexis Saelemaekers and Brahim Diaz are in competition for two places in attack on Tuesday.
  • Jurgen Klopp will ring the changes on Tuesday with top spot in the group already secured.
  • Divock Origi scored a late winner at the weekend and should be rewarded with a start here.
  • Joe Gomez and Naby Keita both returned to training last week and could be involved here.
  • Teenage midfielder Tyler Morton will hope to keep his place in Liverpool’s Champions League side in midweek.
  • James Milner is suspended due to an accumulation of bookings in the competition.
  • Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Diogo Jota missed training on Monday, suggesting they are doubts for the trip to Italy.
