- Nathan Ake’s return to training means Pep Guardiola has a full squad to select from for the welcome of Gladbach.
- After using a three-man defence against Fulham, Guardiola may revert to a 4-3-3 setup here.
- Aymeric Laporte should start alongside Ruben Dias as a result, with John Stones the man to make way, while Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling should all return to the side.
- Ramy Bensebaini and Chrisoph Kramer are both doubts for Gladbach ahead of their testing trip to Manchester.
- The latter’s potential absence should see Denis Zakaria start alongside Florian Neuhaus in a 4-2-3-1 after Marco Rose used a 4-3-3 in the first leg.
- Oscar Wendt, meanwhile, is expected to deputise for Bensebaini should he fail to recover in time.
