- Daniel Podence and Willy Boly are out of this match and at the weekend.
- Oriol Romeu, Jannik Vestergaard, Nathan Tella and Mohammed Salisu all returned from injury against Newcastle on Saturday.
- Kyle Walker-Peters could return here, while Stuart Armstrong is a doubt for the away side after a muscle injury kept him out against Newcastle.
- Takumi Minamino scored on debut for Soutampton but must sit this one out having already featured in the FA Cup for Liverpool.
- Alexandre Jankewitz still has two games to serve on his three-match ban, though is unlikely to feature again for some time.
Barnsley v Chelsea
- Barnsley’s match with Derby at the weekend was postponed owing to a waterlogged pitch at Oakwell so it may not be in the best shape when they welcome Chelsea on Thursday.

- French duo Kurt Zouma and N’Golo Kante should make their first starts under the Chelsea manager, while Tuchel has confirmed Kepa will start in goal.
- Timo Werner picked up a dead leg on Sunday and has been ruled out here, albeit more of a precaution than anything serious.
- Thiago Silva’s hamstring injury isn’t as bad as first feared but he will play no part here.
- Christian Pulisic missed the 2-1 win over Sheffield United because of family reasons and his availability here is unknown.
