Football 29/8/2021 – Burnley v Leeds

  • Nick Pope will start in goal despite Wayne Hennessey’s heroics in midweek.
  • Ashley Westwood remains a major doubt for Burnley and his absence would be a blow.
  • Diego Llorente made his comeback from injury in Leeds’ 3-0 win over Crewe in midweek. Meanwhile, Adam Forshaw made his first appearance for the club in nearly two years. Neither lasted the hour and won’t start here. Robin Koch is Leeds’ only injury concern.

Football 29/8/2021 – Tottenham v Watford

  • Harry Kane marked his return to the starting XI with a brace on Thursday night and he should lead the charge against Watford at the expense of either Lucas Moura or Steven Bergwijn.
  • Son Heung-Min was forced off against Wolves, but should be fit enough to start for Tottenham.
  • Tanguy Ndombele is not in Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans and he may leave the club before the close of the transfer window, while young centre-back pair Joe Rodon and Cameron Carter-Vickers miss out through injury.
  • Juraj Kucka and Nathaniel Chalobah will both both assessed for Watford ahead of the trip to Tottenham.
  • Striker Joao Pedro, though, is ruled out for the Hornets owing to a knee problem.
  • Kiko Feminia is available for Xisco, though he may elect to keep Craig Cathcart at right-back here.
  • Danny Rose will hope to come up against his former employers in Sunday’s game in north London.

Football 29/8/2021 – Wolves v Manchester United

  • Daniel Podence made his first appearance of the season in Wolves’ League Cup triumph in midweek to bolster Bruno Lage’s offensive options.
  • Despite a positive performance against Nottingham Forest, Fabio Silva is expected to drop back to the bench on Sunday.
  • Adama Traore has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham this week but Lage will hope to have him available to face Manchester United.
  • Lage hasn’t nailed down his first choice right-back and Ki-Jana Hoever may keep his place from midweek over Nelson Semedo.
  • Manchester United have remarkably agreed to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo but he won’t be available until after the international break.
  • Anthony Martial should drop to the bench after a poor display against Southampton last weekend, with Mason Greenwood moved centrally. Edinson Cavani is also in contention.
  • Nemanja Matic looked way off the pace in the 1-1 draw with Southampton, which may open the door for Donny van de Beek with McTominay ruled out. Jesse Lingard is also pushing for a start.
  • Jadon Sancho will hope to make his full United debut, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may turn to Raphael Varane over Victor Lindelof given the profile of Wolves’ forwards.
  • Dean Henderson is nearing a return from long COVID but David de Gea is United’s No.1 for now. Scott McTominay has undergone groin surgery and is also ruled out for the away side.

Football 29/8/2021 – Rangers v Celtic

  • COVID is rife at Rangers with members of both the coaching and playing staff in isolation, as was reflected in the starting XI, as Rangers advanced to the Europa League group stage with a 0-0 stalemate against Alashkert in Armenia.
  • With both Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin among those isolating, goalkeeper Robbie McCrorie will be delighted to keep a clean sheet midweek. Club captain James Tavernier and Calvin Bassey were replaced by Nathan Patterson and Borna Barisic respectively.
  • Scott Wright and Ryan Kent didn’t travel with the squad. However, it isn’t clear whether these players have tested positive for COVID, or are awaiting results. The latter was rumoured to be out with a hamstring injury, whether he’s available or not remains to be seen.
  • Ange Postecolgou made just the one change from the Celtic side that smashed St Mirren 6-0 at Parkhead in their last Premiership match, before they lost 2-1 on the night, but secured progression against AZ Alkmaar in Europa League qualifying.
  • Greg Taylor picked up an injury in the Netherlands midweek, but it supposedly isn’t too serious and he should be fine to start. The Hoops could hand a debut to Croatian international right back Josip Juranovic, signed from Legia Warsaw.
  • Tom Rogic was the sole change, who came in as one of the trio in midfield, alongside club captain Callum McGregor and David Turnbull. Odsonne Edouard dropped out as a result. James McCarthy and James Forrest look to be unavailable.
