  • Just as Rafa Benitez has left the club, a number of first team players have returned to given interim manager Duncan Ferguson a boost.
  • Dominic Calvert-Lewin was fit to start at Norwich while Yerry Mina and Richarlison came off the bench and will likely return to the starting XI.
  • Allan and Fabian Delph are sidelined, however, leaving the Toffees short in midfield, so Andre Gomes is sure to keep his place alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure.
  • Ben Godfrey moved to right-back against his former club in the second half last weekend after a poor showing from Seamus Coleman and could do so again to accommodate Mina.
  • Elsewhere Anwar El Ghazi will have to wait once more for his Everton debut as he is ineligible to face his parent club.
  • John McGinn returns from suspension and will replace Morgan Sanson, who had put in a decent shift against Man Utd before a costly error enabled the Red Devils to take a two-goal lead.
  • All eyes will be on the possible inclusion of Philippe Coutinho in the starting XI, but he needs to build his fitness so may stay on the bench.
  • That should mean another former Liverpool man returning to Anfield, Danny Ings’ place is safe for the time being, though Ashley Young is back available and could enable Ollie Watkins to play through the middle.
  • Lucas Digne was thrust straight into the starting XI days after completing his move from Everton and makes a return to Goodison Park within ten days of leaving Everton after three and a half years at the club.
  • Ezri Konsa was forced off with a bang to the hip last time out and is a doubt, so Kortney Hause could stand in.
