Premier League 24/10/2021 – Brentford v Leicester

• Brentford are set to be without at least four players when they welcome Leicester on Sunday.
• The home side would be short in central midfield with Shandon Baptiste sidelined and Vitaly Janelt with an outside chance of making the squad.
• Kristoffer Ajer is back from injury and pushing to reclaim his spot back from Zanka.

• Brendan Rodgers has ruled Marc Albrighton out for up to three weeks after a bad tackle in midweek.
• Timothy Castagne was not risked in midweek but Rodgers expects to have him available here.
• Patson Daka will feel hard-done by if he doesn’t start here after scoring four times in the Europa League on Wednesday.
• However, Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho haven’t done anything wrong that would see them dropped. James Maddison is also back to playing well.
• Youri Tielemans came off injured in midweek but Rodgers believes he will recover in time to start this one.
• Hamza Choudhury or Boubakary Soumare will partner Tielemans in midfield with Wilfred Ndidi still unavailable.
• Daniel Amartey and Jannik Vestergaard are in competition to start in defence for Leicester on Sunday.

• Alex Kral has tested positive for COVID-19 so misses out, while David Moyes is unlikely to have Vladimir Coufal available for selection.
• Ben Johnson started at right-back against Everton, but despite having played the full 90 against Genk on Thursday night, he could keep his place here.
• As such, Moyes is unlikely to make any changes to the side that started at Everton.

• Son Heung-Min and Bryan Gil returned false positive COVID-19 tests and were both in the Tottenham squad that beat Newcastle on Sunday.
• Emerson Royal and Cristian Romero both played the full 90 at St. James’ Park despite a quick turnaround in games and the duo should keep their spot in what should be an unchanged XI for the trip across the capital.
• Spurs’ injury woes have eased of late with Ryan Sessegnon the only confirmed absentee for Nuno Espirito Santo.

• Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed Bruno Fernandes is one of three fresh injury concerns for Manchester United ahead of Sunday’s welcome of Liverpool.
• It’s safe to assume Fred and Marcus Rashford are the other two as both came off with knocks against Atalanta in midweek. Fred is the most likely of the three to miss out.
• Jesse Lingard is the like-for-like replacement for Fernandes should the Portugal international miss out but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Solskjaer opted for a 4-3-3.
• Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial are outside shots to start on the left wing but Pogba or Rashford, if fit, are more likely.

• Thiago is back running but may not even return before the next international break, but Jurgen Klopp hopes to have Curtis Jones in the matchday squad on Sunday.
• With Harvey Elliott also unavailable, James Milner has a good chance of starting in midfield after making a superb start to the season. Naby Keita would therefore drop to the bench with Fabinho recalled.
• Roberto Firmino should keep his place up front over Diogo Jota after netting a hat-trick last weekend.
