  • Fabian Schar was fit to start Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal but Dwight Gayle missed out and remains a doubt here.
  • Martin Dubravka will keep his place in goal after replacing Karl Darlow between the sticks at the weekend.
  • Eddie Howe will ponder changes, certainly because of the quick turnaround, but also due to the defeat.
  • Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie are suspended for the home side after picking up their fifth bookings of the season last time out.
  • Ciaran Clark is expected to replace Lascelles and Jamal Lewis could make his first start league appearance for Newcastle since September with Ritchie unavailable.
  • Mathias Normann came off injured in the first half of Norwich’s 0-0 draw with Wolves on Saturday and will almost certainly miss out here. Lukas Rupp should deputise.
  • Kieran Dowell recovered from injury to feature from the bench against Wolves and is an option to start this one.
  • Dimitris Giannoulis, Pierre Lees-Melou, Christos Tzolis and Todd Cantwell are pushing for starts here.

  • Kalvin Phillips and Junior Firpo both looked out of sorts in Leeds’ 0-0 draw with Brighton and were taken off at half-time. Firpo will certainly drop out here but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Phillips went to the bench either.
  • Raphinha, Rodrigo and Jamie Shackleton all returned against Brighton but Patrick Bamford, Robin Koch and Luke Ayling look set to miss out once again in midweek. Ayling and Bamford are at least playing for the U23s on Monday so they are close to returning.
  • Joachim Andersen is set for more scans on a groin injury but is unavailable for the trip to Leeds. James McArthur and Nathan Ferguson remain unavailable for now.
  • Eberechi Eze returned to first-team action against Aston Villa after six months out injured but is perhaps not quite ready to start.
  • Patrick Vieira will most likely rotate his forward options with Jordan Ayew or Odsonne Edouard coming in for Michael Olise.
  • Will Hughes is an option in central midfield but Palace’s summer signing is yet to debut for the Eagles this season.
