  • Ben Gibson is suspended for Norwich after his red card late on against Chelsea last weekend.
  • Billy Gilmour is available after missing out against his parent club and must has a chance to reclaim his spot after Norwich’s 7-0 defeat.
  • Daniel Farke should be under massive pressure by now so will surely look to change things up for the welcome of Leeds.
  • Todd Cantwell has missed Norwich’s last five matches and may fall short again here in a blow for the home side.
  • Raphinha could make a quicker recovery than expected and remarkably even feature against Norwich on Sunday.
  • Marcelo Bielsa is also hopeful of having Junior Firpo and Jamie Shackleton for the trip to Norwich this weekend.
  • Joe Gelhardt made a real impression off the bench against Wolves last weekend but it wasn’t enough to start against Arsenal in midweek, so another cameo looks likely here.
  • Key man Kalvin Phillips returned in the cup defeat to Arsenal in a boost for the away side, but Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling remain sidelined.

  • Dean Smith has confirmed that Emiliano Martinez has returned to training for Aston Villa and his availability is a huge boost.
  • Injuries have completely cleared up for Dean Smith now and he has some big decisions to make about his system and personnel after a tough few weeks.
  • The first will surely be to revert to a back four following three consecutive defeats, though fitting both Ings and Watkins into the side is proving to be problematic to the rest of the team.
  • The latter may move out to the left unless Smith opts for a 4-4-2, with Leon Bailey, Emi Buendia, Bertrand Traore and Anwar El Ghazi offering further options in attack.
  • Elsewhere Jacob Ramsey may return following a superb first goal for the club last time out, while Marvelous Nakamba is also vying for a start in midfield.
  • David Moyes continues to manage his squad to superb effect and dumped holders Man City out of the Carabao Cup in midweek despite resting star men Declan Rice and Michail Antonio.
  • It was a strong lineup elsewhere, however, so he’ll hope fatigue isn’t an issue for a handful of players that may well start for the fourth time in the space of ten days.
  • Vladimir Coufal got some minutes in the cup after a short spell out injured and he is looking to reclaim his starting spot back from Ben Johnson.
  • Alex Kral is also back in training after isolating but may not make the matchday squad here.

Aston Villa — Martínez; Cash, Konsa, Hause, Targett; McGinn(C), Nakamba, Ramsey; Buendía, Watkins, Bailey.

West Ham — Fabianski; Johnson, Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Soucek, Rice(C); Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals; Antonio.

  • Connor Shields signed for the Steelmen in the summer and he was given the chance to make his Fir Park debut in midweek, joining Kaiyne Woolery and Tony Watt who bagged a brace. Kevin van Veen moved onto the substitutes bench.
  • Steven Gerrard also made two changes from the Rangers team that got back to winning ways domestically with a 2-1 victory in Paisley against St Mirren, before being held at home by Aberdeen in a 2-2 draw.
  • Calvin Bassey replaced Borna Barisic at left-back. Meanwhile, Glen Kamara entered the midfield trio, joining Joe Aribo and John Lundstram, as Steven Davis moved onto the substitutes bench.
  • The attack were unchanged, after the Gers clinched all three points in Paisley. Alfredo Morelos’ 100th goal for the club proved the difference against the Buddies before he bagged another against Aberdeen in midweek.
