  • Grant Hanley is suspended for Scotland due to an accumulation of bookings in qualification.
  • Steve Clarke will hope Scotland can replicate the results from the last break where they secured back-to-back 1-0 wins.
  • Clarke can also call on Manchester United’s Scott McTominay for this break after he missed their last matches through injury.
  • McTominay has played in defence and in midfield for country and is an option to replace Hanley here. Leeds’ Liam Cooper is a more obvious fit.
  • Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie are in competition to complete Scotland’s midfield three on Saturday. The latter is in better form for club.
  • Nathan Patterson and Stephen O’Donnell are battling to start at right wing-back for the hosts.
  • Hatem Elhamed is suspended for Israel due to an accumulation of bookings in qualification.
  • Celtic’s Nir Bitton should start as a result of Elhamed’s suspension and he will be up against a lot of familiar faces.
  • Regular defenders Eitan Tibi and Orel Dgani are not in the squad and also need replacing on Saturday.

  • Marcio Vieira, Moi San Nicolas and Albert Alavedra make it nine suspensions for Andorra during this World Cup qualification campaign. The trio will miss out against England on Saturday.
  • Defender Ildefons Lima is still making the Andorra squad at 41 and remarkably he may be required here with two centre-backs suspended. It’s either Lima in defence or Andorra playing a back four.
  • Reece James and Kalvin Phillips have withdrawn from the England squad through injury and been replaced by Ben Chilwell and James Ward-Prowse, respectively. Tammy Abraham has also joined up with the squad.
  • With concerns over Andorra’s pitch, there are suggestions Harry Kane may not be risked given his past with ankle injuries. Ollie Watkins or Abraham therefore have decent chances of starting, while Raheem Sterling is an option to play centrally.
  • With only two games for England in this break, some players won’t even get on the pitch. One of those is perhaps Jadon Sancho, who Gareth Southgate admitted was lucky to even be in the squad.
  • With qualification all but secure it will be interesting to see how Southgate goes about matches against Andorra and Hungary. The latter is no doubt the tougher of the two, so players one yellow away from a booking, such as Declan Rice and Kyle Walker, may be held back here.
  • Even though he was only drafted in to the side as an injury replacement, Chilwell may even end up starting this one as Kieran Trippier will more than likely be required at right-back on Saturday.
  • John Stones will welcome the break having played more times for England (2) this season than Manchester City (0). With Harry Maguire unavailable, Tyrone Mings should step in though fans will want to see AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori.
  • Jordan Pickford has endured some injury problems so far this season and is set to have the night off with West Brom’s Sam Johnstone to be rewarded with a start in goal over Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

  • Switzerland have switched from a back three to a back four in their last two World Cup qualifiers.
  • Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka won’t play again for Switzerland this year due to a long-term knee injury.
  • Borussia Dortmund No.1 Gregor Kobel has withdrawn from the Switzerland squad through injury.
  • Silvan Widmer appears to have leapfrogged Kevin Mbabu in the pecking order for right-back during this qualification campaign.
  • Denis Zakaria has found some form for Gladbach this season after an injury-hit year and could come into the starting XI here.
  • Trevor Carson, Michael Smith, Alistair McCann, Gavin Whyte, Corry Evans and Shayne Lavery have all pulled out of the squad through injury and illness.
  • Leicester’s Jonny Evans was one of the last players to link up with the Northern Ireland squad but he is expected to be fine to play here. His club will hope he is managed carefully after only just returning from a lengthy lay-off.
  • Paddy McNair missed out against Switzerland last time out due to suspension but he is available for selection this time.
