Test Cricket
The pinnacle of the sport. A five-day test of character, skill, and endurance. Played with the red ball and in white clothing, Test cricket remains the purest form of the game.
The Red-Ball Essentials
Why Test cricket is different from every other sport on earth.
Three sessions per day: Morning, Afternoon, and Evening (Lunch and Tea breaks).
No limit on overs per side. The game only ends when 40 wickets fall or time runs out.
Field placements, swing, and spin develop over days as the pitch detoriates.
The World Test Championship
To give every Test match meaning, the ICC introduced the World Test Championship. Teams earn points for every series, culminating in a one-off Final at a neutral venue (historically Lord's or The Oval) to crown the world's best Test nation.
