Career Biography
Wu Yize was born in Shanghai in June 2001 and turned professional in 2018 at just 17 years of age, joining the WST tour as part of the expanding programme of Chinese professional licences that has transformed the global landscape of snooker over the past decade. Shanghai, as China's most internationally connected city, has a vibrant snooker culture, and Wu Yize emerged from that environment with exceptional natural ability and a positive, aggressive style that quickly drew attention on the professional circuit. His early seasons on tour were spent developing the consistency required to compete at the top level. He demonstrated from the outset that his potting ability was of the highest class — his attacking instincts and century-making frequency marked him out as a player with enormous potential. Breakthrough results followed as he accumulated experience and improved his safety play and match management to complement his natural attacking gifts. His best world ranking of number fifteen confirms that he has already translated that potential into results at the professional level.

At the World Championship
Wu Yize has made his World Championship appearances at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, and his attacking style — built around fast, confident break-building and positive shot selection — is well suited to the long format that the World Championship demands. His youth means that he is still accumulating the experience required to perform at his best over the fortnight-long tournament, but his natural ability ensures he is always capable of producing the kind of snooker required to beat the very best in the world. As he continues to develop, deeper Crucible runs will follow.
