Privacy Policy
Whatchan.co.uk
We built Whatchan to help football fans find what’s on TV โ not to harvest data. Here’s exactly what we do (and don’t do) with your information.
Our plain-English pledge: We do not collect your personal data, we do not sell your personal data, and we never will. Whatchan exists to tell you what football is on TV today โ nothing more, nothing less.
๐ Who We Are
Whatchan.co.uk is an independent football TV listings guide founded in December 2019 by Adrian Dane. Our website address is https://whatchan.co.uk. We are based in Shumen, Bulgaria and our editorial contact is editor@whatchan.co.uk.
We publish daily information about which football matches are on TV in the UK, on which channels, and at what times. We do not sell any products, run subscriptions, or provide links to copyright-infringing or pirated content.
Whatchan is run as an independent, single-person operation. We are not affiliated with any broadcaster, football club, league, or rights holder.
๐ What Data We Collect โ And What We Don’t
Whatchan does not collect personal data in the ordinary course of operating this website. Specifically:
- We do not run user registration, accounts or sign-in.
- We do not operate email newsletters or mailing lists.
- We do not use advertising networks or sell advertising space.
- We do not use third-party tracking pixels (Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, etc.).
- We do not run behavioural profiling or interest-based advertising.
- We do not collect or store payment information of any kind.
- We do not collect location data beyond the approximate country inferred by your browser’s language settings.
If you contact us by email at editor@whatchan.co.uk, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this solely to respond to you. We do not add you to any list, share your address with anyone, or retain it beyond the correspondence itself.
๐ช Cookies
We use only essential (strictly necessary) cookies โ the minimum required for the website to function correctly. Under UK GDPR and EU ePrivacy Directive rules, strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent.
We do not use:
- Analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics, Hotjar).
- Advertising or targeting cookies.
- Social media tracking cookies.
- Performance or preference cookies that profile your behaviour.
The only cookies present on this site are those set automatically by WordPress (our publishing platform) for core technical operation:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
wordpress_test_cookie | Checks whether cookies are enabled in your browser. Deleted immediately. | Session | Essential |
wp-settings-* | Stores interface preferences for logged-in admin users only. Not set for visitors. | 1 year | Essential |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare bot management โ protects the site from automated abuse. | 30 mins | Essential |
You can delete or block cookies at any time via your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent some pages from loading correctly, but will not affect your ability to read our content.
๐ Third-Party Services
Some pages on Whatchan embed live data widgets from FootyStats.org (for live football tables and team statistics). These embeds load content directly from FootyStats servers. FootyStats may set their own cookies or process your IP address in accordance with their own privacy policy, which you can read at footystats.org/privacy.
Whatchan does not receive, process or store any data that FootyStats may collect. We use FootyStats solely to display live football statistics and have no commercial relationship that involves your personal data.
Our site is served via Cloudflare for security and performance. Cloudflare processes request metadata (including your IP address) as a data processor on our behalf, in accordance with Cloudflare’s privacy policy and a Data Processing Addendum compliant with UK GDPR and EU GDPR.
We do not embed YouTube videos, Google Maps, social media feeds, or any other third-party services that are known to set advertising or tracking cookies.
โ๏ธ Legal Basis & Regulatory Compliance
Whatchan operates in compliance with:
- UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) โ as retained in UK law by the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.
- EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR 2016/679) โ applicable to visitors from European Union member states.
- UK Data Protection Act 2018.
- Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) โ governing our use of cookies.
Because Whatchan does not collect, process or store personal data in any meaningful way, we do not have a legal basis to declare under Article 6 UK/EU GDPR beyond the legitimate interest of serving essential cookies required for the site to function. We are not registered as a data controller with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as registration is not required where no personal data is processed.
If you are an EU resident and have concerns about your data rights under GDPR, you are entitled to contact your national Data Protection Authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
๐๏ธ Data Retention
We do not store personal data. As stated above, the only personal information we ever receive is an email address when you choose to contact us. Email correspondence is retained only for as long as is necessary to resolve your query, and is not stored in any database or CRM system.
Your web server access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) are processed by Cloudflare and our web host in accordance with their respective data retention policies, typically for a maximum of 30 days, for the purpose of security and technical diagnostics. Whatchan does not access or export these logs.
๐ก๏ธ Your Rights
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access โ request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Erasure โ request deletion of any personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification โ request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Restriction โ request that we restrict processing of your data.
- Object โ object to processing based on legitimate interests.

In practice, because we do not collect or store personal data about visitors, there is likely nothing to access, erase or correct. However, if you wish to make any such request, please email editor@whatchan.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.
