  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will make sweeping changes to face West Ham for the second time in three days, given they have the early Saturday kick-off to contend with.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo will get his first rest since re-joining Manchester United, while Bruno Fernandes is also expected to drop out of the side.
  • Dean Henderson should make his first matchday squad of the season on Wednesday but Tom Heaton may get the nod here.
  • Alex Telles has declared himself fit to play on Wednesday in what would be his first appearance of the season. If he is not deemed ready to start, Diogo Dalot may have to play left-back.
  • Victor Lindelof wasn’t with the squad in midweek but will partner Eric Bailly at the back if available. Otherwise Harry Maguire will start, while this game likely comes too soon for Phil Jones.
  • Anthony Martial will either start up front or from the left wing, depending on Edinson Cavani’s availability. Anthony Elanga may start if Cavani is not ready, but Juan Mata is also an option.
  • Michail Antonio missed the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday through suspension but will return to lead the line here. He was sorely missed at the weekend.
  • Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek both started in the Europa League on Thursday and again against United on Sunday. The former looked particularly leggy late on at the weekend and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some rotation in that department.
  • Mark Noble came off the bench purely to take a stoppage time penalty against United, only to miss. He will hope to start here. Late summer signing Alex Kral is an option for his West Ham debut.
  • Alphonse Areola should also make his West Ham debut in midweek, while Craig Dawson, Ryan Fredericks, Arthur Masuaku and Issa Diop are pushing for places in defence.
