- Mark Travers’ questionable display in goal against Serbia on Wednesday may open up the door for one of Kieran O’Hara or Gavin Bazunu to step in here.
- Ireland may continue with a back three in order to get both Seamus Coleman and Matt Doherty in the side.
- Shane Long may come into the starting XI after picking up an assist from the bench against Serbia.
- Jeff Hendrick, James McClean and Robbie Brady are also options if fresh legs are required for the home side.
- Vahid Selimovic and Dirk Carlson were both regulars in defence during Luxembourg’s UEFA Nations League campaign last year but neither are in the current squad.
- Vincent Thill should start in midfield for the away side if he is available.
