  • Neal Maupay wasn’t registered in time to face Leeds on Tuesday but can debut for Everton here.
  • Frank Lampard will be tempted to throw another centre-back in against Liverpool and that could be either Michael Keane or Seamus Coleman.
  • Everton signed James Garner and Idrissa Gueye on deadline day, but only the latter may start here.
  • Darwin Núñez has served a three-match ban and is back available for Liverpool.
  • Roberto Firmino has played a direct hand in six goals in his absence, however.
  • Diogo Jota returned to training on Thursday and should make the squad here.
  • Joel Matip and Curtis Jones were back on the bench in midweek after injury.
  • Jordan Henderson suffered a hamstring injury in midweek and is out.
  • Deadline day signing Arthur won’t get international clearance until after the game.
  • Jurgen Klopp should rotate somewhat with an eye on the Champions League next week.

  • Jan Bednarek joined from Southampton on deadline day to provide cover for the injured Diego Carlos.
  • A throat problem could keep deadline day signing Leander Dendoncker out here.
  • Jack Grealish and Nathan Ake are the closest of Manchester City’s injured players to returning but they remain major doubts here.
  • Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez started together in midweek in a surprise selection by Pep Guardiola. The former may rotate out here with a view to next week’s Champions League opener.
  • Kevin De Bruyne is expected to return to the starting XI after being rested against Nottingham Forest in midweek. Riyad Mahrez is also an option for the away side.
