Chelsea:

  • Bruno Saltor is taking charge for Chelsea in midweek after Graham Potter’s sacking on Sunday night.
  • Saltor hopes to have Wesley Fofana and Raheem Sterling available for selection after the pair missed the 2-0 loss to Aston Villa [1].
  • However, Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, Edouard Mendy, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are ruled out.
  • Saltor is expected to make a couple of changes to the XI, with Benoit Badiashile, Christian Pulisic, and Fofana, if fit, all potentially starting against Liverpool on Tuesday.
  • N’Golo Kante made his first appearance since August on Saturday evening, and his return is a huge boost for the team. The Frenchman may start too.

Liverpool:

  • Jurgen Klopp has lost Naby Keita to yet another injury and he joins Thiago, Calvin Ramsay, and Stefan Bajcetic on the sidelines.
  • Luis Diaz is back in training, but he isn’t expected to return until later this month.
  • Klopp is likely to make changes to his XI after Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Manchester City, with Darwin Nunez, Roberto Firmino, James Milnes, and Kostas Tsimikas among those who could start.

Graham Potter has turned down an offer to become Leicester City’s new manager following his departure from Chelsea. Former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique has emerged as a frontrunner to become the new Chelsea manager, with the club hoping to interview five candidates, including Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti, and one other. Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Oliver Glasner are also under consideration. Chelsea is reportedly concerned about Nagelsmann’s age of 35. Manchester United is interested in signing Harry Kane, but the Tottenham striker is open to signing a new contract.

Manchester United may sell England defender Harry Maguire this summer, and the club is interested in signing Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, and Portugal forward Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. Tottenham is considering a move for Leicester’s James Maddison, while Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in Everton’s Amadou Onana. Bayern Munich will not activate the clause to make Joao Cancelo’s loan from Manchester City permanent but may negotiate a reduced price for the Portugal full-back. Tottenham will sound out Brendan Rodgers about becoming their new manager.

Arsenal has held talks with Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, while a Saudi Arabian club has shown interest in Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho. Chelsea has reportedly agreed to sign Kendry Paez, a 15-year-old midfielder from Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle, in a deal that could be worth more than £17.5m. The Blues have also increased their interest in Atalanta and Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund. Finally, Newcastle United is one of several Premier League clubs interested in Manchester City’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who is currently on loan at Burnley.
