  • Neymar has been out injured since November but is expected to recover in time to face Real Madrid on Tuesday.
  • Kylian Mbappe is expected to join Madrid on a free transfer in the summer but insists he is only thinking about knocking the Spanish giants out of the Champions League.
  • Sergio Ramos left Madrid after 16 years at the club to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer but he has struggled to stay fit all season and will not feature here.
  • Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas will also hope to start against his former club but as he played at the weekend Gigi Donnarumma is expected to take over here.
  • Achraf Hakimi wasn’t really given the chance to prove himself during his time at Madrid but he has emerged as one of the best right-backs in the world since leaving in 2018.
  • Leo Messi hasn’t quite lived up to expectations at PSG since leaving Barcelona over the summer but he will be desperate to inflict misery on old rivals Madrid here.
  • Leandro Paredes, Gini Wijnaldum and Danilo Pereira are in competition for two places in midfield for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. The latter wasn’t in the squad at the weekend.
  • Juan Bernat is not in PSG’s squad for the knock-out stage of the Champions League.
  • Ferland Mendy returned to training on Sunday after missing Real Madrid’s last three matches.
  • Karim Benzema is not fully fit despite returning to part of training on Sunday but Carlo Ancelotti is expected to start the Frenchman on Tuesday.
  • Marco Asensio or Rodrygo will start on the right hand side of Madrid’s attack with Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale forced to settle for a place on the bench at best.

  • Sporting CP had three players sent off in a fiery match with FC Porto at the weekend but Sebastian Coates, Bruno Tabata and Joao Palhinha are all available here.
  • Pedro Porro, who is on loan from Manchester City, sat out the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Porto through suspension so is fresh for selection here if eligible to face his parent club.
  • Star man Pote failed to recover from injury in time to face Porto and the home side will be desperate to have him available here. Nuno Santos is on standby.
  • Former Paris Saint-Germain creator Pablo Sarabia is in good touch with a direct goal contribution in seven of his last eight appearances for Sporting.
  • Kyle Walker is suspended for Manchester City so Joao Cancelo, who was rested at the weekend, will start at right-back.
  • Oleksandr Zinchenko is the natural fit at left-back of their available options but it wouldn’t be overly surprising if Aymeric Laporte played there on Tuesday.
  • Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne will return in midfield after being given the weekend off to prepare for this match.
  • Jack Grealish is absent with the same shin injury that kept him sidelined for a while last season with Aston Villa.
  • Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez are in superb goalscoring touch for City, and with Gabriel Jesus absent, Phil Foden should continue in attack.

  • Alex Telles made the squad against Southampton on Saturday after recovering from COVID and could return to the starting XI in place of Luke Shaw on Tuesday.
  • Ralf Rangnick has confirmed Fred is also back from COVID but the Brazilian midfielder may only make the bench here.
  • Injury continues to rule out Edinson Cavani, Eric Bailly and Nemanja Matic for the home side.
  • There have been calls to drop Harry Maguire with Victor Lindelof pushing for a recall after COVID, heart problems and personal issues have plagued him over the last month or so.
  • Marcus Rashford provided an assist against Southampton but was otherwise quiet and may be replaced by Anthony Elanga here.
  • Yves Bissouma came off the bench to face Watford on Saturday but will return to the starting line-up here.
  • Alexis Mac Allister and Leandro Trossard both returned from COVID at the weekend and there is a good chance both start at Old Trafford.
