AFCON 17/1/2022 – Team News

  • Burkina Faso could name an unchanged XI from the one that started the 1-0 win over Cape Verde as they look to finish in the top two.
  • Bertrand Traore is absent owing to his positive COVID-19 test, but should be back for the last-16 should they progress.
  • Dango Ouattara, Soualio Ouattara and Saidou Simpore all missed the victory after their positive COVID tests, but hope to be available here.
  • Yared Bayeh is available following his ban and should return to the heart of the defence.
  • Dawa Hotessa opened the scoring in Ethiopia’s eventual 4-1 loss to Cameroon and should start on the left again.
  • Julio Tavares may be considered a doubt after looking in some discomfort against Burkina Faso, but should lead the line regardless.
  • Vozinha replaced Marcio Rosa between the sticks and should keep his spot in goal.
  • Cameroon have no pressing injury or suspension concerns ahead of their final group game.
  • Despite all-but securing top spot in Group A, the tournament hosts will want to put on another show here, which could see a repeat of the XI that started the 4-1 win over Ethiopia.
