20/07/2023 Football – Women’s World Cup – New Zealand v Norway

The match between New Zealand and Norway is part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. The game is set to kick off at 08:00 on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

New Zealand, one of the hosts of the World Cup, will be starting the tournament against Norway in Auckland. Both teams have had mixed results in their recent matches. New Zealand lost 1-0 to Italy, while Norway drew 3-3 against Sweden. Norway is looking to break their losing streak at major tournaments, having exited Euro 2022 at the group stage after losing 8-0 to England and 1-0 to Austria.

The last time these two teams met, Norway won 2-0 with goals by Ada Hegerberg and Guro Bergsvand. The prediction for this match is a similar result but with a closer scoreline due to the home crowd support for the Ferns. The prediction is a 1-0 win for Norway.

The Republic of Ireland is set to make its debut in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 against co-hosts Australia. The match will take place at a sold-out Stadium Australia in Sydney. Captain Katie McCabe has stated that the team is not just happy to be participating, but they aim to challenge Australia and leave a legacy back home. The Republic of Ireland will also face Canada and Nigeria in Group B.

Denise O’Sullivan, a key midfielder for the Republic, has been declared fit to play after being hospitalised due to a badly bruised shin during a friendly match with Colombia. The Republic’s manager, Vera Pauw, has confirmed that O’Sullivan is fine and will play against Australia.

The Republic is prepared for a physical match and is focused on giving Australia, Canada, and Nigeria the hardest games possible. They are aware of Australia’s quality but are confident in their own abilities. The team arrived in Sydney and was greeted by Irish fans at the airport, adding to their excitement and determination to do their nation proud.

Australia’s star striker and captain, Sam Kerr, is expected to be a significant player in the match. However, Pauw emphasized that her team’s game plan involves dealing with the entire Australian team, not just Kerr. Australia’s manager, Tony Gustavsson, stated that they have identified weaknesses in the Republic team and are prepared to exploit them.
