22/10/2022 Football – Plenty of Football Action Today. The Premier League has two televised games in the UK, Nottingham Forest v Liverpool and Chelsea v Manchester United.
22/10/2022 Football – Premier League – Nottingham Forest v Liverpool
- Moussa Niakhate, Omar Richards and Jack Colback are still out with long term injuries.
- Lewis O’Brien was ill and missed the draw against Brighton last week. He is a doubt for the game against Liverpool.
- Harry Toffolo came off late on after coming on for Serge Aurier after picking up a knock. The Ivory Coast full back should start as he did against Brighton.
- Renan Lodi has not featured in the squad through injury since the defeat to Leicester and is a doubt once again.
- Steve Cooper’s side looked good value in defence against Brighton and Steve Cooper will be looking for a similar result against Liverpool, so he may name an mostly unchanged side.
- Curtis Jones came off the bench as he made his return from injury. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was an unused substitute.
- Luis Diaz, Arthur and Diogo Jota are all long-term absentees for Liverpool, with the latter admitting he will miss Portugal’s World Cup campaign.
- Ibrahima Konate is still a doubt after not featuring against West Ham.
- Darwin Nunez scored his first goal at Anfield against West Ham and should start again at the City Ground.

- Ben Godfrey, Andros Townsend and Nathan Patterson all remain sidelined. Though Patterson could make a return next month.
- Yerry Mina had a setback to his injury so its unsure when he’ll next be available.
- Mason Holgate made the bench but did not feature against Newcastle.
- Dominic Calvert-Lewin started the game against Newcastle and should start again against Palace.
- Will Hughes is a doubt due to illness, but Patrick Vieira remains without no fewer than five players for Tuesday’s welcome of Wolves.
- Patrick Vieira could name an unchanged side that won against Wolves last Tuesday, after coming from behind after half time to win 2-1.

- Kalvin Phillips remains ruled out of action.
- Kyle Walker has stated his confidence that he will be fit in time for the World Cup for England, as he continues to recover from a groin operation.
- John Stones may make a return next weekend, but this game will likely come too soon.
- Jakub Moder remains a long term injury concern for Brighton.
- Kaoru Mitoma has an ankle injury and is likely to miss this weekend as well, with next weeks round of fixtures looking a more probable return for him.
- Levi Colwill has a knock, but may make a return to the squad at least for this one.

- Reece James, Ngolo Kante and Wesley Fofana remain on the sidelines and will definitely miss the Manchester United game.
- Conor Gallagher came off in the first half with an illness and will probably make way for Mateo Kovacic in the starting XI for the United game.
- Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech were unused substitutes against Brentford but the Brazilian should come back in to the side against Manchester United.
- Christian Eriksen came off the bench against his former club Tottenham on Wednesday, but Bruno Fernandes put in an MOTM performance, so the Portuguese midfielder should start ahead of the Dane.
- Cristiano Ronaldo was an unused substitute against Tottenham and walked off the pitch before the match finished. He has since been suspended by the club.

- Robbie Neilson made four changes to the Hearts team that was thumped 5-1 by Fiorentina in Tuscany last midweek, before falling to a 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday afternoon.
- Nathaniel Atkinson picked up an injury in Italy with both Peter Haring and Andy Halliday also adding to a plethora of players that are on the Jambos’ treatment table.
- Atkinson, Haring, Cammy Devlin and Jorge Grant all dropped out of the starting XI at the weekend. Toby Sibbick, Robert Snodgrass, Orestis Kiomourtzoglou and Lawrence Shankland were handed starts on Sunday.
- Ange Postecoglou named five changes to the Celtic side that hammered Hibs 6-1 at Parkhead, before the Hoops booked their place in the Premier Sports Cup last four thanks to a 4-0 victory against Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday evening.
- Benji Siegrist replaced Joe Hart in goal, making his first appearance for Celtic since victory over Ross County in the previous round. Josip Juranovic and Greg Taylor entered the back four at Anthony Ralston and Alex Bernabei’s expense.
- Hat-trick hero James Forrest – who has now scored 100 goals for the reigning champions – and Giorgos Giakoumakis made way for Liel Abada and Kyogo Furuhashi, who both scored in their midweek match against Motherwell.
