23/10/2022 Football – Plenty of football action taking place today. The early game on Sky Sports Premier League is Southampton v Arsenal. The later game is Tottenham v Arsenal.
23/10/2022 Football – Premier League – Aston Villa v Brentford
- Steven Gerrard was relieved of his duties as Aston Villa boss on Thursday night following their 3-0 defeat at Fulham.
- Douglas Luiz was sent off in that one, but his ban has been overturned. Boubacar Kamara, Lucas Digne and Diego Carlos are injured.
- It remains to be seen how the new man at the Villa Park helm will line his side up against Brentford, but Matty Cash and Emiliano Buendia may all start here.
- Brentford have no fresh injury concerns for their trip to Aston Villa, with Thomas Strakosha, Christian Norgaard, Pontus Jansson and Aaron Hickey ruled out.
- Thomas Frank, who has been linked with the Villa job, may revert to a 4-3-3 here.

- Pascal Struijk and Archie Gray will both be assessed, but the weekend’s welcome of Fulham comes too soon for Leo Hjelde.

- Liam Cooper may replace Robin Koch at the back after the latter was subbed off at the break following a nightmare 45 minutes against Leicester.
- Nathaniel Chalobah returns from a ban for Fulham, who lose Daniel James as he cannot face his parent club.
- Manor Solomon and Layvin Kurzawa are absent due to injury for the visitors.
- Despite a quick turnaround in games, Marco Silva may stick with the same XI that started their routine win over Aston Villa.

- Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl remains without injured duo Romeo Lavia and Tino Livramento. Armel Bella-Kotchap will also miss out.
- Ibrahima Diallo and Theo Walcott both started on the bench against Bournemouth, with the former coming on the pitch late in the match.
- Kyle Walker-Peters came off injured in the win over Bournemouth with a hamstring injury and will be out for the long term.
- Romeo Lavia returned to training this week but the Arsenal game may come too soon for him.
- Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe continue to be ruled out.
- Oleksandr Zinchenko missed the games vs PSV and will have to be assessed before this one.
- Bukayo Saka took a bit of a kick in their game vs PSV, but should be okay to start against the Saints.
- Arteta will most likely go for an unchanged side to the one that beat Leeds 1-0

- Rayan Ait-Nouri missed the defeat to Crystal Palace through illness.
- Hugo Bueno stepped up in his place and picked out a wonderful cross for Adama Traore to score the opener from. Steve Davis should keep Bueno in the team should Ait-Nouri not be fit.
- Wolves are still without Pedro Neto and Raul Jimenez, as well as Sasa Kalajdzic and Chiquinho.
- Toti played no part in the game against Palace and is another doubt for the hosts here.
- Ricardo Pereira and Ryan Bertrand continue to miss out for Leicester.
- Wilfred Ndidi is still unavailable for the Foxes through injury.
- James Maddison is available for selection after missing the win over Leeds through suspension.
- Jonny Evans missed their last two games against Crystal Palace and Leeds but could be available for the trip to Wolverhampton.
- Jamie Vardy started the midweek game against Leeds and could do so again against Wolves.

- Karl Darlow is at the latter stages of recovery so may return soon.
- Emil Krafth is a long term injury concern.
- Alexander Isak will remain sidelined until probably after the World Cup, with a thigh injury.
- Matt Ritchie may not be back before the World Cup.
- Allan Saint-Maximin has an irritation to his hamstring, so is likely not to be risked here.
- Joelinton picked up a knock to his knee in midweek, so will require a late assessment.
