- Netherlands should have no injury concerns coming into this game.
- Christian Pulisic came off in the win over Iran on Tuesday with a pelvic injury and will have to be assessed before this game to see if he can take part.
- Josh Sargent also came off in that game with an ankle injury and will also have to be assessed before this game.

- Argentina topped Group C after beating Poland in the final group game 2-0 to reach the Round of 16. They last made the quarter-finals in 2014, a year in which they eventually finished as the runners-up.
- Australia finished as the runners-up in Group D, recovering from their opening match, where they lost 4-1 to France, to win their last two games against Tunisia and Denmark to reach the knockouts for the first time since 2006. They have never made the quarter-finals of the World Cup and this game will be only their second Round of 16 game at the tournament in their history.
- The two-time winners Argentina will likely have too much quality for Australia in this game and will most likely come away with the win.
