3/2/2022 Football
3/2/2022 Football. There is a game in the AFCON today. At 19:00, on BBC Three, is the African Cup of Nations clash between Egypt & Cameroon.
3/2/2022 Football – Cameroon v Egypt
- Olivier Mbaizo is on standby to start at right-back on Thursday after Collins Fai came off injured against Gambia last time out.
- Lyon’s Karl Toko Ekambi will be full of confidence heading into Thursday’s match after scoring both goals in Cameroon’s 2-0 win at the weekend. He now has five goals in the tournament.
- Mo Salah was typically the star of Egypt’s come-from-behind 2-1 win over Morocco in the quarter-finals but it came at a cost.
- Usual first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy was already ruled out and his replacement, Mohamed Abou Gabal, came off injured in extra-time. Now 22-year-old Mohamed Sobhi may start in goal on Thursday.
- Centre-back Ahmed Hegazy was also forced off injured in their quarter-final victory and is a doubt to face AFCON hosts Cameroon on Thursday.
- Aston Villa winger Trezeguet replaced Hegazy, with Ayman Ashraf dropping into centre-back, and ended up scoring the winning goal so he will hope to start here.
