2/2/2022 Football – Cinch Premiership – Celtic v Rangers
- Ange Postecoglou made three changes after Celtic’s 2-1 win over Hearts at Tynecastle last midweek, as they left it late to beat Dundee United 1-0 at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon.
- Two of those alterations arrived in the full-back positions, as Liam Scales and Anthony Ralston replaced Greg Taylor and Josip Juranovic at both left and right-back.
- Jota had to settle for a spot amongst the substitutes, perhaps with this fixture in mind. However, his replacement Liel Abada was the Hoops’ hero as his late winner was enough to secure a last-gasp victory over United.
- This match is said to come too soon for both Tom Rogic and Daizen Maeda, who are both returning from international duty with Australia and Japan respectively.
- Giovanni van Bronckhorst made four changes from the Rangers side that squeezed past Livingston 1-0 at Ibrox in midweek, before a topsy-turvy 3-3 draw with Ross County in Dingwall.
- Scott Arfield was rewarded with a start after his gorgeous winner against Livi. Meanwhile, Joe Aribo also returned for Rangers following Nigeria’s exit at the African Cup of Nations. They replaced James Sands and Alex Lowry.
- Scott Wright and Fashion Sakala also made way as Ryan Kent returned from suspension and Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo scored five minutes into his Rangers debut.
- And the Gers could also hand a debut to Welsh international midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who has signed on loan from Italian giants Juventus until the end of the season.
