Purpose clauses — за да
Expressing why something is done.
Purpose clauses ("in order to", "so that") use за да + present tense. Same subject = за да + verb. Different subject = за да + different subject + verb. This is one of the most frequent complex structures in Bulgarian.

Result clauses — толкова...че / така...че
Expressing outcomes and consequences.

Concessive clauses — макар че / въпреки че
Expressing contrast within one sentence.

Building truly complex sentences.
At B1 level you should be able to combine multiple clause types in a single sentence. Here are examples of how the structures from this course combine:

— Защо реши да учиш в чужбина?
— Исках да напусна, за да видя как е другаде. Въпреки че ми беше трудно да се разделя с родителите, разбирах, че е важно.
— И как намери Лондон, когато пристигна?
— Беше толкова различен от всичко, което познавах, че се чувствах изгубен първия месец.
— Откакто живееш там, променил ли си се?
— Много. Преди да замина, мислех, че знам как работи светът. Сега съм по-скромен.
— Макар и да е трудно, вероятно е струвало.
— Абсолютно. Веднага щом имам деца, ще ги науча да пътуват и учат езици — за да имат същата възможност.
— Звучи като добра идея. Дори и да е трудно финансово, инвестицията в образованието си заслужава.

— A lot. Before I left, I thought I knew how the world worked. Now I'm more humble.
— Even though it's hard, it was probably worth it.
— Absolutely. As soon as I have children, I'll teach them to travel and learn languages — so that they have the same opportunity.
— Sounds like a good idea. Even if it is financially difficult, the investment in education is worth it.

✏️ Writing task — Day 57
- Write 5 sentences using за да (purpose clause) — all with different subjects.
- Write one sentence each using: макар че, въпреки че, докато, след като, веднага щом.
- Combine these into one complex sentence: "I bought a book. I wanted to learn history. The book was very interesting. I read it quickly."
- Translate: "Although I did not speak Bulgarian when I arrived, after I started taking lessons I improved very quickly, so that within six months I was able to hold a basic conversation."
