Premier League 18/12/2021 – Aston Villa v Burnley

  • Jed Steer and Morgan Sanson missed the 2-0 win over Norwich in midweek through COVID-19.
  • Few changes are expected from Steven Gerrard for the welcome of Burnley, though teenager Carney Chukwuemeka stands a decent chance of starting over the festive period.
  • Sean Dyche will hope to recover key attacker Maxwel Cornet for the trip to Villa Park on Saturday.
  • Burnley have a couple of former Aston Villa players in their ranks in Matt Lowton and Ashley Westwood. Both will start here.
  • Connor Roberts is a doubt with illness, while Dale Stephens and Ashley Barnes will miss out once again.
  • Josh Brownhill will look to replace Jack Cork in midfield, while Jay Rodriguez and Matej Vydra are on standby to start up front.

Premier League 18/12/2021 – Leeds v Arsenal

  • Leeds’ 7-0 defeat to Manchester City came at a further cost as Jamie Shackleton and Dan James came off injured and Junior Firpo is now suspended. It means Marcelo Bielsa will be without at least eight players, possibly nine, this weekend.
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang misses out again after being stripped of the Arsenal captaincy.
  • Emile Smith Rowe scored off the bench against West Ham in midweek and will surely get back into the starting XI here.
  • Gabriel Martinelli came off with a knock in midweek and could make way for Smith Rowe here.
  • Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga are options for Mikel Arteta if he wants to freshen things up on Saturday.
