World Cup Qualifiers 8/10/21 – Czech Republic v Wales
- Czech Republic have confirmed Vladimir Coufal, Lukas Masopust, Petr Sevcik and Jan Boril have left the squad and been replaced by Milan Havel, Jan Kopic, Tomas Wiesner and Jaromir Zmrhal.
- Ales Mateju should replace Coufal at right-back with 31-year-old Filip Novak taking over at left-back from Boril.
- Alex Kral is yet to debut for West Ham and his lack of game time may cost him a place in midfield here. His West Ham team-mate Tomas Soucek will most likely be partnered by Tomas Holes on Friday.
- With Masopust now unavailable and Jakub Jankto not even in the squad, Jakub Pesek will hope to start on the right wing for the home side.
- Gareth Bale is ruled out for Wales, while Rhys Norrington-Davies and Tom Lockyer have pulled out of the squad and been replaced by Ben Cabango and Will Vaulks.
- Tyler Roberts and Kieffer Moore are in competition to replace Bale up front against Czech Republic. Harry Wilson is an alternative.
- Aaron Ramsey has missed Wales’ entire World Cup qualification campaign through injury but the Juventus midfielder is back in the squad here in a boost for Robert Page.
- Wayne Hennessey remains three caps short of 100 for Wales and he has lost his place in goal to Danny Ward.
- Having not featured for Burnley at all this season, Connor Roberts is unlikely to start for Wales straight away during the break. Chris Gunter or Neco Williams will start here.
- Joe Rodon and James Lawrence are in competition to start at centre-back unless Page reverts to a back three on Friday.
- Brennan Johnson looks an exciting talent coming through for Wales but he may have to settle for a place on the bench with Ramsey back.
- Bournemouth winger David Brooks has pulled out of the Wales squad through illness.
