England’s Under-21 team, under the guidance of head coach Lee Carsley, is preparing to face Portugal in the quarter-finals of the European Under-21 Championship. The match is scheduled for Sunday, 2nd July at 17:00 BST, at the Ramaz Shengelia Stadium in Kutaisi, Georgia. The English team has had an impressive run in the tournament so far, securing three straight 2-0 victories and topping their group.

Carsley is confident in his team, stating that they have some of the finest young talents in Europe. He believes that if they are given the right environment to showcase their skills, they can excel. He also emphasized the importance of believing in the players and providing them with a platform to create and attack.

However, the team will have to face Portugal without Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliot, who has left the camp due to a pre-planned family engagement. Manchester City’s Tommy Doyle is also uncertain for the match due to a knee injury he sustained during training.

Despite these challenges, Carsley remains optimistic, stating that the team still has more to offer and can reach new heights. He also expressed his frustration over the lack of television coverage for the team’s matches in the UK, stating that it would have been a great opportunity to showcase the next generation of senior internationals.

If England manages to defeat Portugal, they will face either Georgia or Israel, both of whom they have already defeated in Group C. The semi-final match will be held at the Batumi Arena on Wednesday, July 5, with the final scheduled for the same venue on July 8.
