  • Alan Browne is suspended after a late red card at the weekend in defeat to Blackpool.
  • Championship strugglers Preston look set to be without six players in total on Wednesday, but Liverpool loanee Sepp van den Berg has been granted permission to play, which is a boost for the home side.
  • Preston have played with two strikers up front all season but that would be a bold move against Liverpool.
  • Liverpool have a real problem in midfield with Naby Keita and James Milner both set to miss out after injuries against Manchester United on Sunday.
  • Fabinho missed the 5-0 win at Old Trafford with a knee problem and won’t be risked here, while Thiago and Harvey Elliott are still unavailable.
  • Curtis Jones at least returned from injury over the weekend and will no doubt slot into midfield on Wednesday.
  • Sadio Mane was surprisingly benched against United and may rotate into the side here, with Jurgen Klopp set to make plenty of changes.
  • 17-year-old Kaide Gordon made his first-team debut in the last round and will hope to feature again here.
  • Adrian is on standby to start this one if Caoimhin Kelleher fails to recover from illness in time.

  • Jack Ross made four changes as Hibernian made it three league losses in a row, the latest being a 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie following their 3-0 humbling at home courtesy of Dundee United at Easter Road.
  • Lewis Stevenson came in at left wing-back, with Darren McGregor partnering Paul Hanlon and the incoming Paul McGinn at centre back. Hibs will be able to recall Ryan Porteous to the XI to compensate for McGregor’s red card against Aberdeen.
  • Jamie Gullan entered the attack alongside Martin Boyle and Kevin Nisbet. The Hibees haven’t scored since Nisbet had them ahead at Ibrox against Rangers, firing blanks in the two defeats since.
  • Ange Postecolgou made two changes from the Celtic side that got the better of Ferencvaros 2-0 in the Europa League on Tuesday afternoon, before a league victory over St Johnstone at Parkhead by the same scoreline.
  • Adam Montgomery started at left-back against the Hungarians in the absence of Boli Bolingoli from the Europa League squad. However, Josip Juranovic was given the nod and scored the second from the spot against Saints on Saturday.
  • In attack, Giorgos Giakoumakis marked his first Celtic start with his first Celtic goal. The Greek striker was the top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie last season with VVV-Venlo and will be delighted to be off the mark for the Hoops.
